Great review, except for the part where you say “but enough about the story” (a writer cringes). I saw the 3D version, but my only disappointment was that it wasn’t on a larger screen (cough cough IMAX), so I could totally be immersed in the presentation. I think also, because of the theme (life itself with your loved ones is enough adventure), this might just be my favorite Pixar movie.

I also APPRECIATED that they didn’t give you ANY story information in the trailer or before the release. That way, the whole movie was a pleasant surprise (unlike every other movie after its trailier these days). It was basically their way of saying, “Hey, we’re Pixar. TRUST us. Just come.” I did and they earned the right to keep me in the dark until the lights go down in another theater and their logo comes on again.

My first reaction to seeing the fat boy scout in print ads preceding the movie was also, “Hey, that’s Timmy!” I wanted to find out if there was any way Pixar people might have seen your shorts (well, at least your ANIMATED shorts, unless you’ve already also got a Timmy boxers underwear line). You are magnanimous in explaining creative types come up with similar ideas and images all the time. My big concern is that, from now on, when anyone in the industry or otherwise sees Timmy, they’re going to say … “Hey, that’s RUSSELL.” So keep your copyright dates handy.

Good reading. I look forward to your future blogs.
