NATPE part 2

Published by Mark under TV Business

Ran into a lot of people in Vegas who listen to our teleseminars and have our TV Pitch School. Thanks so much for saying HI. NATPE said we were responsible for bringing more people to the conference than any other group. Cool.

NATPE TV Conference

Published by Mark under Misc

We are in Vegas at the NATPE conference with around 30 of our clients. The conference is slow and smaller than we’ve seen it, but our Tour members are getting a huge number of contacts. One studio read Margaret Babish’s pilot last night and they have a meeting today on it. Andrew Orillion must have made 45-50 new contacts in just 2 days.

Extra Day in LA

Published by Mark under Misc

I had some extra time in LA today. I had lunch with a friend I met in China. During lunch, an actor I worked with over 20 years ago came in and sat at the table next to us, Laurence Hilton-Jacobs. He’s had a long film and TV career, going all the way back to the show that made him a star, Welcome Back Kotter. It was great catching up with him.

Recording on Pitch Trip

Published by Mark under Misc

I’m being inspired on this pitch trip. I’m taking time each night to record more of our TV Pitch Tips Audio Postcards. I am so pumped each night it’s hard to relax so I keep working until I pass out.

Pitching in LA, Part 5

Published by Mark under Pitch Stories

Wrapping up my week in LA. Had a long breakfast this morning with Dreamworks. It was great. We brainstormed ideas based on my property, came up with some cool new ideas and we got along great. The concept goes to Katzenberg this weekend. I’ll know later next week.

Pitching in LA, Part 4

Published by Mark under Pitch Stories

Big day. Met with Starz. (They produce The Simpsons) They love both properties. 4 executives in the room and we laughed a lot.

Met with Cookie Jar in the afternoon. Great meeting but different. The president, Toper, hit me rapid fire with questions, got what he needed and ended the meeting on a beat. I really liked him. Straight to the point. Great energy. I hope to hear next week.

Pitching in LA, part 3

Published by Mark under Pitch Stories

My Dreamworks pitch was moved to Friday morning. The Sony pitch went great. They loved one of my properties. It was a fun pitch and it lasted about an hour. Even my agent felt it went great. The meeting started at noon, so luckily I ate a quick sandwich right before the meeting or I would have eaten the couch cushion by the end.

Pitching in LA, part 2a

Published by Mark under Pitch Stories

The Fox conference room seemed to have a heater on. Pitching in a room that is 15 degrees hotter than the other rooms is rough. Have you ever tried not to sweat? It’s hard to control.
